Morning Glory Square ~ A free Crochet Square Pattern

There is something so special and divine about the mother/child bond that his/her mere existence makes a woman complete. One year and a week before, on 24th of August, I was blessed with a boy whom I named Aahan. As sex determination in India is illegal, we didn’t know the gender till I delivered. All we were hoping for was a healthy baby and then he arrived, crying…!! We named him Aahan which means “morning glory”, born at 4:14 AM. And Morning Glory he is, thus the name for this pattern.

Motherhood taught me so many things and patience is one of them. Of course, I was patient enough earlier too but motherhood added an another dimension to it. When your child is very young, like mine, motherhood becomes synonymous with tolerance and patience. You have to have patience when your baby cries endlessly while you change his diaper… when you are dead tired and your baby just refuses to go to sleep.. When you have to start the process of putting your baby to sleep all over again because he is fast asleep when he is on your lap but wakes up as soon as you put him on his bedding.. But in the end it all worth because when I see him smile, my all worries, my stress, all negative emotions just disappear and I feel so refreshed and calm that everything just falls into its right place.

He is still very young to understand the notion of favourites and likes and dislikes but since I like flowers, I believe he too will like flowers and will handle them gently. So I have kept this afghan block flower centric ( I have attempted to give it a little 3D look..!!) and then worked in rounds with bead and puff sts, and then squaring off the circle and a border. Pretty simple but engaging.

Hope you will like my Morning Glory..!!

So here goes the pattern.

I hope you enjoy the pattern.

And now is the time for our today's WoW (Words of Wisdom), it is taken from one of my favorite novel, "Looking for Alaska", a teen fiction by John Green. Green has presented us with so many beautiful & thought provoking quotes and following is the one I love the most.

So that's all for the day, see you soon somewhere again in Crochetland, till then happy crocheting and be kind and considerate..!!

Love,

Jessica
